Wikipedia sobre la sinagoga:
The Sofia Synagogue is located in the center of Sofia , on 16 Ekzarh Yosif Street, next to the Halite , near the Piroska Street and not far from the Women's Market .
It was built in 1909 on a project by the famous Austrian architect Friedrich Gruenanger , who took over the synagogue in Vienna, which was later destroyed by the Nazis. The old synagogue of Sofia called "Ahava and Hashed" was built in the same place.
It was officially opened on September 9, 1909. It is the largest on the Balkan Peninsula and 3rd in Europe (after the synagogues in Budapest and Amsterdam ), as well as the largest Sephardic synagogue on the continent. It can accommodate over 1,000 people in the main room (for men) and on the inner balconies (where women are praying).
